안녕하세요 여러분!
Crazy things, but my time here at the MTC is winding down! O.o It's weird to think about. We're packing today, and we have in-field orientation tomorrow, which just makes it all the more real. Not going to lie, I'm a little nervous, but I know things will work out okay.
Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I got all of the packages in the whole world, and I know my family knows me: thanks for the pretty journal, the scarf, the treats, and the coloring book (you know I'm going use that on the plane ride). And Auntie, the cake was delicious. One of my companions and I may or may not have eaten about half of it by ourselves... I mean, what? We're healthy! But seriously, so delicious.
I'm not sure that I can fully express to you how excited I am to eat all the Korean food in the whole world. It's so exciting. There have been rumors that dog may be something that we eat... not sure how I feel about that. Hopefully they just don't tell me what it is, if I do end up eating it... We'll see, though.
I don't know when I'll be able to email you next, since I think P days in-field are on Mondays (emails would arrive on Sundays), but I'll let you know how things go when I can. :)
I want to share a quick thought with you about Ammon and his brothers. (Yes, it's taking me forever to finish Alma, but I'll get there.) Quick summary: Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah are running around being poops and trying to ruin the Church; they're visited by an angel, who tells them to knock it off; they are converted unto the Lord. That's simplifying a ton of stuff, but I'll let you go study it out a little more in depth for yourself. :) I think another part of the story is that pretty much the first thing they want to do when this happens to them is to go preach the gospel to the Lamanites. I was thinking the other day about that, and about their experience, and this is what occurred to me: Ammon and his brothers really experienced the Atonement in their lives, which is why they had such great desire to be missionaries. I can't tell you how many times it's been reiterated to me that the more one studies about the Atonement, the more one will recognize it in their lives, the more one will want to share it. I just thought I'd let you know that I'm going to be studying the Atonement as much as I can from now to the end of my life, most especially over these next 16 months, and I would invite you to do the same.
