So once upon a time I have no idea what we did this week... Hurray for planners! Except it wasn't that interesting anyway...

I think I mentioned last week that Sister Giles' birthday was last P day. Our celebration was very small (돈까스, kim bap, and ice cream) but this week the Sister from Hwayang were able to come up and spend some time with us! We did the exercising thing with Shaun T (Insanity) and my legs are sad, but it was good. And now we're going to eat Shabu Shabu, which I'm real excited about.

Sister Giles made us delicious curry for dinner on Saturday.

Also! I must tell you about our investigator. She has a baptismal date for Dad's birthday, actually, and we're super excited about it! She's so sweet, and we really love her. Hopefully we can explain things so that she'll understand... --____--

I feel like it was or is or is going to be someone's birthday. Dani? Sami? Both? I'm the worst, for not remembering! But if that is the case, happy birthday! 생일축아합니다! And if not, I'm the most awkward panda in the world and I'll wish you happy birthday a little later, I guess. :)

We bought 떡 and it's sooooooo good. There are many delicious things to eat in Korea. *sigh* I need to watch that...

I was thinking a lot about charity this past week. Have you ever read Moroni 7? Because it's REALLY good. I realized that I hadn't read it for a while, so I read through it the other day, and man, that man knows his stuff. His logical progression makes a lot of sense, and it starts with faith. Faith is the power by which all things are possible. And how can you have faith without hope? Hope in Christ and His Atonement, that it is through Him that eternal salvation and greater temporal happiness is possible. And how could a person who has faith and hope not be meek and lowly of heart? And being meek and lowly of heart leads to having charity. And then comes the scripture mastery, Moroni 7:45-46.

" And charity‍ suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth‍ not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, 
cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—"

There are several ways to look at these verses: it's a definition and description of charity; if you replace the word "charity" with "Christ", which is what my brain is more inclined to do, it's a description of our Savior; and Sister Giles told me about what she usually does, which is to replace "charity" with her own name. That's pretty profound, isn't it? (Yay companions!) Replacing your name for the word "charity" is sort of like setting goals and seeing where you are at the same time. When you put your name there, can you honestly say that you are kind, that you don't envy, that you're not puffed, that you don't seek your own, think no evil, that you rejoice in truth; that you bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, and endure all things? Are you trying to do those things? Are you trying to be like our Savior? I don't know about you, but for me, some days are better than others. On the days when I'm unusually happy, when I sit down at the end of the day and think about why that is, it's usually because I did my best to love those around me, that I did my best to do what I know my Father in Heaven and my Friend and Savior wanted me to do. Brothers and Sisters, I would hope that we're all striving to be a little more like our Savior. He has showed us the way and if we'll just follow Him, we can receive the blessings that Heavenly Father is just waiting to give us. Let's not let Him wait anymore! ^_^

Sometimes it can be hard to have the faith to get started, but guess what? You don't need to feel like you have all the faith in the world to get started. John tells about that in chapter 7: "If any man will do‍ his will, he shall know‍ of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether‍ I speak of myself." I would add my testimony to that: we know what the commandments are, we know how to act (and if you don't, you can always ask the missionaries! They're there to help!), all we have to do is DO it. JUST DO IT (insert Shia LeBeouf here). And the more you do it, the more you'll realize just how much He's blessing you.

PS - Some suggestions to get started:

--Read the scriptures! especially the Book of Mormon, every day (I prefer the mornings, so that you can have the spiritual buoyancy during the day)!

--Say a prayer! Heavenly Father loves hearing from you, I promise. Just have a conversation with the Person who knows and loves you the best.

--Go to church! Granted, this week's meetings may be over, but even attending regular meetings during the week, such as Relief Society or the youth activity, is good, too. There is a special feeling in the chapel. I really believe that if you need a moment to be still and know God (D&C 101:16), there's no better place to do it than in His house. And there's no better time to do so than during sacrament meeting, when there are several minutes specifically set aside for pondering, meditating, and renewing your commitment to the follow the Savior by partaking of the sacrament.
